Do you have any tips on dealing with the psychological aspects of an injury? I had surgery to reconstruct my ACL three weeks ago, and I'm looking at another 5-6 months of physical therapy before I'm back on the field.

Hi,
That's a great question! We haven't hit that topic yet. The psychological aspects of a severe injury can be really tough to deal with - sometimes worse than the physical aspects. I'd recommend trying to stay active within the bounds of your physical therapy regimen. Celebrate the small achievements in therapy. You may be able to do some swimming with a floating device between your knees so you don't have to use your legs.

If you decide you want to stay involved with Ultimate, reading can be a great way to keep involved in the sport and make your game better. Essential Ultimate by Michael Baccarini and Tiina Booth as well as Ultimate Techniques and Tactics by James Parinella and Eric Zaslow. The Inner Game of Tennis by W. Timothy Gallwey is a great book on mental game. You'll find some great blogs like "The Huddle" that covers a wide range of topics by various authors. And there's tons of video footage out there.
